I got the following mail from Lena Engdahl, Altera Sweden:

The DE1 board and DE2 board can now be purchased without any additional costs (freight, customs, VAT etc) via:

www.terasic.com

Altera will take on the costs for this, in order for students to be able to purchase these boards for their own use.

Please note that you should choose the option called ‘Academic users’ when buying the board, and you will be asked to send a copy of your student ID along with your order.

The prices of the kits are:

DE1 USD99
DE2 USD269

Please note that the DE1 is still showing with a price of USD150, but this should be updated within short.
